Extract frames from a video

Choose a video file and an interval, and the extractor grabs a still every few seconds. Download single frames as JPG or the whole set as one contact sheet. The video stays on your device.

1 · Choose a video

2 · Pick the interval

How the video frame extractor works

Your browser decodes the video locally. The extractor seeks to each timestamp, draws that frame onto a canvas, and saves it as a JPG. No file is uploaded to a server.

The interval sets the spacing between frames; the extractor stops at 60 frames so long videos stay fast. For a long recording, raise the interval or trim the clip first.

The contact sheet places every frame in a grid with its timestamp, which is a quick way to review a clip, share a storyboard, or attach evidence to a report.

Frequently asked questions

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. Decoding and frame capture happen in your browser. Closing the tab discards the frames.

Which formats work?

Any format your browser can play: MP4 (H.264) and WebM work everywhere; MOV and H.265 files depend on your browser and operating system.

Why are some frames blurry?

The extractor captures the frame shown at each timestamp. Frames in fast motion carry motion blur from the camera, and highly compressed videos show artifacts between keyframes.

Can I search a long video for a moment instead?

For hours of footage, a frame grid gets slow. Ceptory indexes the video so you can type what you are looking for, such as a red car at the gate, and jump to the matching moments.
